We have opportunities for Adjudicators in our Claims Intake & Adjudication Services department to provide timely, exceptional customer service and help workers with physical injuries. In this role, you'll make entitlement decisions on claims, manage health care benefits, and answer questions about claim decisions.

We have Adjudicator roles available in our Surrey, Victoria, and Prince George offices.

 

How you'll make a difference: You'll make important and fair decisions when people get injured at work.

 

Where you'll work

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.

 

In this role, you'll work primarily from your B.C. home and occasionally in your assigned office.

 

  • Adjudicate claims related to workplace physical injuries
  • Gather information by telephone and in person, and analyze information to determine relevant facts, and weigh evidence to make reasoned decisions in a timely manner
  • Review medical documentation and other evidence to determine the eligibility of workers for compensation benefits
  • Communicate verbally and in writing to workers , employers, health care providers, and other representatives to ensure that decisions are communicated clearly and understood
  • Support people recovering from physical injuries by arranging benefit payments and appropriate treatment
  • Ensure employers are involved in supporting early return-to-work

 

We're looking for people who can:

  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of professionalism to provide empathic, tactful, respectful, and courteous service
  • Manage emotionally sensitive conversations while demonstrating a high level of personal resiliency
  • Apply strong organizational and time management skills to handle a high volume of claims
  • Effectively communicate confidential and sensitive information to a wide variety of clients, both orally and in writing, using discretion and tact
  • Take initiative in complex matters
  • Probe for understanding where there may be disagreement on facts
  • Work both independently and in a team environment
  • Operate proficiently in a computerized environment using Microsoft Office software

 

Your background and experience

  • A post-secondary diploma
  • A Bachelor's degree is considered an asset
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in making adjudicative decisions and/or applying law and/or policy in the last 10 years
  • Proficiency in a computerized environment using Microsoft Office software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A valid B.C. driver's license
  • We'll consider equivalent combinations of education and experience.
