Job Description

Aviva has an excellent career opportunity in our Managing General Agent (MGA) underwriting team for a Senior Manager, Portfolio Engagement. Your focus and responsibilities will be to orchestrate the intake of new MGA partnerships and contribute to process enhancements while tracking portfolio KPIs and facilitating the MGA underwriting, audit, and review processes. Through this exciting opportunity, you’ll become a subject matter expert within the MGA space, and act as a liaison between the MGA team and other internal Aviva departments. You’ll also connect directly with MGAs for relationship management purposes.    

You must be able to operate at both a macro and micro level in support of our MGA partners while achieving the department’s business objectives. Success in this role will require you to leverage your organizational and operational skills to collaborate effectively as a team player with internal and external stakeholders.

This position will report into the Head of MGA.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the intake of new relationships through reviewing and evaluating business proposals against internal appetite, conducting due diligence on potential new partners, and coordinating the various internal approvals.

  • Become the subject matter expert for MGAs within Aviva.

  • Facilitate collaboration between Underwriting, Analytics, Finance, and Claims.

  • Act as a liaison between Aviva’s Operations team and MGA partners to improve the processing workflow and create data-driven efficiencies.

  • Drive MGA relationships by supporting operations to ensure growth and profitability in alignment with Aviva targets.

  • Oversee development and review of portfolio KPIs and suggest corrective measures where appropriate.

  • Facilitate audit automation processes where applicable, to maintain tight controls over delegated authorities.

  • Support preparation and delivery of quarterly business reviews with existing MGA partners.

 

What You’ll Bring:

 

What is required :

  • 7-10 years of experience in the P&C insurance industry in roles of increasing responsibility;

  • College diploma or university degree;

  • Exposure to one or several of the following: technical underwriting, strategy, portfolio and relationship management, finance, or analytics

  • Strong underwriting knowledge in key P&C segments;

  • CIP or FCIP preferred

  • Working knowledge of other functional areas (Claims, Risk Management, Finance);

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, minimizing friction to deliver positive outcomes; and

  • Excellent communication skills with a proven track record of communicating in a clear and concise manner, in combination with effective listening skills and the ability to understand stakeholder needs.  

 

What is a strong asset:

  • Specialty lines underwriting experience;

  • Understanding of the structure and contents of a broker (MGA) contract; and  

  • Functional knowledge of the French language.
