As a Commercial Lines Front Line Manager, you will be responsible to provide leadership to team of talented commercial underwriters focusing on for Property & Casualty.  You will be accountable to engage with our talent as a team, and one-on-one leadership, provide training, development, monitoring and measuring of individual and team results, collaborating on team and branch objectives, and execution of various strategies. As the leader, you will drive operational efficiencies.

 

We are looking for a leader who will bringing a solution-oriented approach, work with our broker partners, drive profitable growth and retention and question the status quo as it pertains to processes and decision-making when not aligned with our strategy.

  • You will model, mentor, teach and cultivate outstanding broker relationships, making Aviva the market of choice to build mutually profitable partnerships.

  • You will be involved in the underwriting, assessment, and evaluation of new and existing commercial lines accounts as necessary to assist the underwriting team.

  • You will motivate and guide the quality of underwriting.

  • You will support the file review process in accordance with governance standards as required.

  • You will work collaboratively with your peers, specialists, and the Head of Underwriting to create excellence in our approach, in alignment with Aviva strategies and guidelines. 

  • You will strive for continuous efficiency and improvement. 

  • You will engage, direct and motivate your team through regular huddles, meetings and clear communication.

What You’ll Bring:

 

  • Minimum 8 plus years’ experience in commercial insurance, with experience in Property/Casualty.

  • Experience in a leadership role

  • Broker or other relevant experience will be considered if progressive increased responsibility is shown.

  • Solid understanding of the operation of Commercial Business

  • Knowledge of competitor wordings or appetite an asset

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Good business insights and real passion for relationship management

  • Excellent underwriting judgement and understanding of the operations of a branch function.

  • Ability to develop strong business relationships, externally with brokers and internally with other areas of Aviva

  • Strong organizational skills showing attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Operational organization, including the ability to understand numbers and create metrics that measure outcomes.

  • Exceptional communication skills and confidence delivering sometimes unpopular messages

  • Experience with Aviva systems (RTM and RTG) is an asset

  • Post-Secondary education, equivalent practical experience

  • CIP designation ??

 

 

 

What you'll get:

 

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $79,500 to $147,700. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
