Aviva is pleased to announce that we are currently recruiting for students for our summer internship Program for the period of May 2025 until August 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for post-secondary students to gain exposure to the insurance industry. Our program offers a variety of experiences across our insurance business unit. Aviva realizes the importance of crafting internships as a means to develop talent to meet future requirements for entry-level insurance roles.

 

Aviva Canada has adopted a hybrid return-to-office model. This role will require you to work in the Markham office.

 

The Claims Strategy and Shared Services Team is looking for an individual who is interested and passionate about corporate sustainability to join the team as a Sustainability and Communications intern for Summer 2025!

 

What you’ll do

 

  • Writing posts and creating visuals for various communications. (can group with section in comms)

  • Support the delivery of training and educational programs related to climate and sustainability.

  • Research, collate and analyze data for projects related to sustainable claims.

  • Familiarity with the process of setting science-based targets and measuring carbon emissions to support suppliers and program initiatives

  • Assist with internal program reporting requirements, preparing presentations, meeting notes, etc.

  • Writing Workvivo blog posts, updating Claims Canada, compiling monthly customer video stories and Employee Spotlights.

  • Assisting with events hosted by Claims (Town Halls, Climate Day, new facility grand openings, etc.), both virtual and in-person.

  •  Creating visuals for Workvivo, filming and editing videos for different audiences, PowerPoint presentations, and content (graphics, posts and videos) for MS Teams Channels.

  • Working and reaching out to different departments to ensure consistent messaging, branding and line of business representation.

  • Drafting, editing, and fact-checking content for various purposes and audiences, including process changes/updates, announcements, award applications, etc.

  • Sharing training assets with Line of Businesses’ and requesting their review/updates/sign-off. Making any applicable changes to existing assets. Potential to create net new training assets based on 2025 priorities/roadmap.

  •  Ensuring that practical application/assessments exist, and that they adhere to brand and accessibility standards.

  • Support Claims Academy and Claims Central maintenance/admin duties.

  • Responsible for assisting full time staff with short term projects to meet business requirements

  • Other duties as assigned by manager

What you need to succeed:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program and actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Environmental

  • Ability to multi-task and be comfortable with change and ambiguity. 

  • A flexible approach and attitude and prepared to take on a challenge, willing to adapt or pivot in a dynamic and fast-changing environment. 

  • Comfort with numbers and data, including basic Excel skills and familiarity with Qlik

  • Interest in, and passion for, developing solutions to corporate sustainability issues

  • Demonstrates a desire to go above and beyond and hunger to learn and grow

  • Strong verbal and written communicator with high caliber, professional business demeanor

  • Significant experience using Microsoft office programs (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel)

  • A real passion for helping people

  • Pervious Insurance program or work experience is an asset   

  • Have a minimum 2.75 GPA or B average
