Apply your expertise in a collaborative setting as a Senior Manager in Specialty Personal Insurance Underwriting at Aviva. Make a meaningful impact on our underwriting practices across the nation.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Underwriting Authority: Authorize underwriting decisions that exceed regional risk authority, including policy voidance and reinsurance arrangements, while strictly adhering to your delegated binding authority limits.

  • Technical Direction: Provide technical underwriting direction for complex risk matters and ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and corporate underwriting policy.

  • Policy Development: Approve changes to underwriting rules, guidelines, and products, maintaining national consistency.

  • Regulatory Filings: Prepare and negotiate filings with external regulators regarding underwriting rules and rate filings.

  • Corporate Projects: Participate in corporate projects representing underwriting.

  • Risk Control: Ensure robust controls across underwriting, contributing to effective insurance risk management.

  • Referral Point: Act as a referral point for technical underwriting and pricing decisions.

  • Customer Focus: Embed fair treatment of customers into all activities and ensure decisions result in fair customer outcomes.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Support regulatory and compliance programs and ensure appropriate audit controls for regulatory reports.

  • Decision-Making Authority: Authorize underwriting decisions that exceed regional authority and provide technical direction on compliance matters.

  • Underwriting Rules: Develop and validate underwriting rules for risk mitigation, both automated and manual.

  • Broker Materials: Ensure underwriting content for broker manuals is aligned with regulations.

  • Internal Manuals: Develop internal underwriting manuals in line with policy.

  • Regulatory Communication: Communicate with regulators to submit and defend underwriting filings.

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as an expert on rules, wordings, products, and regulations.

  • Policy Accuracy: Validate the accuracy and compliance of policy outputs and communications.

  • Collaborative Projects: Contribute to special projects and foster positive connections with both internal and external partners.

  • Fair Treatment: Ensure fair treatment of customers is embedded in all functions.

  • Effective Mentorship: Consistently provide effective mentorship regarding customer treatment expectations.

 

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Finance, or similar field. MBA or equivalent experience preferred. CRM, CIP, or FCIP certification preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years in insurance, with at least 2 years in a comparable management role.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong organizational and customer service skills. Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes.

  •  Excellent judgment and analytical skills to manage and disseminate information accurately.

  •  Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

  • High-level problem-solving skills to address policy gaps.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a geographically dispersed team.

  • A leader with integrity, credibility, and excellent relationship management skills.

 

What You'll Get

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $ 92,100.00 - $ 171,000.00. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
