As the Commercial Automobile Underwiting Specialist, you are there to support both strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations aimed at enhancing profitability, competitiveness, and efficiency.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert, collaborating with the Executive Office on:

    • Strategic initiatives, including technological advancements
    • Rate and product development
    • Regulatory changes and reporting
    • Company benchmarks
    • Customer engagement
  • Conduct research and analysis of industry and company data to support assigned initiatives.

  • Lead the development and implementation of business changes.

  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation.

  • Provide technical assistance and training to ensure consistent implementation of changes.

  • Mentor and develop team members, facilitating knowledge sharing and best practices.

  • Perform risk analysis using technology and external data sources for quoting, negotiating, and authorizing risk acceptance.

  • Lead or participate in periodic work reviews for quality assurance.

  • Foster positive relationships with internal and external parties, including other regional offices and networking at industry events.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of seven years of experience in commercial automobile underwriting.
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent business experience.
  • CIP designation preferred. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to thoroughly review information.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement optimal solutions.
  • Excellent decision-making skills with the ability to justify decisions.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present information persuasively.
  • Strong leadership abilities to positively influence and direct team members.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
